Glee 2x17 "Night of Neglect" | Jack Johnson "Bubble Toes"

This artist is probably pretty somewhat well known, but I've had a crazy, busy week and have barely watched any shows.

This past week, the character Mike Chang, danced to Jack Johnson's Bubble Toes at the Glee Club's Night of Neglect night. One thing I wasn't so sure of was the fact that during this concert, they were performing/using songs from neglected artists, and I'm not sure if Jack is considered neglected or not. But maybe if you think about it, maybe he is.

I've heard about Jack for a few years since before he even did his single, Upside Down, for the Curious George movie. My favorite song of his is Sitting, Waiting, Wishing but after looking to see where his music has been featured in other TV shows, it looks like he doesn't have any other songs in shows other than this one in Glee.

So, to introduce you guys to him, here are a few songs that I would love to see in various shows.

Jack Johnson's music style is acoustic. Since he is also from Hawaii, some of his songs feature the ukulele. He has had 6 studio albums released since his first release in 2001.

Other Songs:
Better Together
If I Had Eyes
Go On

Allie Moss "Something To Hold On To" | Bones 7x17 "The Feet on the Beach"

Last week's episode of Bones had song that kind of peaked my interest. Very beautiful, but sadly I couldn't find a recording of it on Youtube, aside from live versions. Here is what I think might be a good version of it. This song was played during the closing scene of the Bones episode titled "The Feet on the Beach" during the closing scenes when the character Camille is talking to her daughter, Michelle.

Allie Moss sings with Ingrid Michaelson on her tours regularly, and has the same kind of style of music as Ingrid. When I found this out, I wasn't very surprised since when I heard this song, I thought "That sounds like Ingrid!" Now I'm wondering if I saw her when I went to Ingrid and Mat Kearney's concert last year!

Even though she has only one EP out, Passerby.  Allie's music has been featured on shows such as Brothers & Sisters and Pretty Little Liars. She is a singer and songwriter and has been performing since 2005.

Other songs:
Leave It All Behind
Dig With Me

Gomez "How We Operate" | Grey's Anatomy 7x18 "Song Beneathe the Song" & 2x26"Fight or Flight "

Grey's Anatomy did something they've never done before. A musical episode. They took music that they helped make famous through the show and releasing three soundtracks for the 1st three seasons with the music featured on the show. They took those songs and had the main characters sing them.

I've been a fan of the show since it started back in 2005, and I have all three albums. So for someone who loves music and this show, this episode was amazing 'cause I haven't listened to those albums in forever, but they did sing my favorites and it has made me want to listen to the songs again.

One of my favorite songs from the 2nd album, How We Operate, was first played on the season 2 episode "Fight or Flight" during the scene where the Neurosurgeon Derek Shepherd (aka, McDreamy) was operating on fellow cardio surgeon's hand.

This past week, the song was sung by the trauma surgeon, Owen Hunt, as he and fellow surgeons were trying to figure out how to save their co-worker and friend, Callie Torres, after she and her girlfriend got into a car accident.

The song is originally performed by the band Gomez. I have heard his music on House, Bones and other episodes of Grey's Anatomy.

Gomez is a band from Southport, England has an indie rock band style to its music. They have been together since 1997, and is still going today. Since then, they have released 6 studio albums, with their new one, Whatever's On Your Mind, set to be released on June 6.

Here is the original recording for How We Operate, but I decided to share this link, 'cause it has some clips from season 1 of the show. Just ignore the 1st few seconds where another song is being played.

Other songs:
Airstream Driver
Get Miles
Moon and Sun (also has clips from Grey's Anatomy)

See The World

Ry Cuming "Always Remember Me" | Private Practice 4x17 "A Step Too Far"

Hearing Always Remember Me, which features Sara Bareilles, during the end of this week's Private Practice was a good feeling. It was one of those "I've heard this!" moments, and I had to google the lyrics before I remembered where I had heard it before.

I had first heard it before getting ready for my school's big fall concert because there was this one artist, named Ry Cuming, who was going to perform and I wanted to get to know him and his music a little bit more. His style of music is definitely my preferred listening genre. But sadly, he ended up not performing at that concert, which kind of upset me because I was really looking forward to seeing him perform.

Ry Cuming grew up in Australia, and was discovered in Costa Rica by a film producer from Los Angeles. He's won Best Pop Song and Best New Artist at Australia's Dolphin Awards.

He currently only has his self-titled debut album out now. You can purchase it on iTunes or through his official site.

Home was featured in One Tree Hill and Some Kind of Love was featured in So You Think You Can Dance Auditions in season 7.

Hey Monday "Candles" | Glee 2x16 "Original Songs"

Not many shows for me this week, so I'm going to talk about another song from Glee this week.

It was Regionals for the Glee kids. And one of the competitors, the Dalton Academy Warblers, performed the song Candles from "Hey Monday."

Glee Version | Hey Monday (New) Version

From Palm Beach, FL, this four-member band has been playing since 2008 with their first single Homecoming. They currently only have one album out titled "Hold On Tight." Homecoming, How You Love Me Now, and Run, Don't Walk were featured on The Hills. I Don't Want to Dance was featured in Hellcats.

Candles was on their "Hold On Tight" album, but recently they've re-done the track and came out with an EP for it in February. You can hear the old version here.

Neon Trees "Animal" | Glee 2x15 "Sexy"

Not that many new shows this week, and the ones that were new didn't have any music sadly. So this week's entry is going to focus on one of the songs that Glee preformed this week.

I was supposed to see them in concert when they were scheduled to open up for 30 Seconds to Mars, but because Mars had to push the dates back, Neon Trees was unable to perform at the concert I attended.

Animal was performed by the characters Blaine Anderson and Kurt Hummel and the Dalton Warblers on the episode of Glee titled "Sexy." The thing about their version is the all-men group sings their songs acapella with only a drum backup.

Compare:
Glee vs. Neon Trees (Music Video)

You've probably heard Animal on your local radio station. But Neon Trees a new, four-person band from Provo, Utah that performs variations of alternative pop rock music.

Members include:
Tyler Glenn -Lead Vocals & Keyboard
Chris Allen -Guitar
Branden Campbell - Bass
Elaine Bradley - Drums & Vocals

At this time, they only have one album released, titled Habits. Their music has been featured on the CW shows The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, the new version of Melrose Place, and Life Unexpected

Their newest music video is for the single 1983

The Submarines "Plans" | Grey's Anatomy 7x16 "Not Responsible"

This is a new artist for me this week, but turns out I have in fact heard of this group! So I'm learning someone new this week as well!

The Submarines' new single Plans was featured in this week's new episode of Grey's Anatomy, when the character April Kepner wanted to discuss the fact that a fellow doctor asked her out to her friend/coworker/roommate Lexie Grey. The song is from their new, upcoming album titled Love Notes/Letter Bombs.

Some of their other music has also been featured on One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, and Vampire Diaries.

The one song that I am familiar with, and didn't realize it was them until researching them just now, is their song Submarine Symphonika, which was featured in the iPhone3G and iPhone3GS commercials last year.

Other songs:
You Me and the Bourgeoisie
Brightest Hour
Hope
The Wake Up Song

This is the kind of music that I used to love listening to. I miss it, and it used to put me in such a good mood. I must get back into listening to stuff like The Submarines
